Free trial terms
Last updated 1 November 2026. These terms apply when you start a 7 day free trial of Cmd.Ctrl on the sign-up page. Please read them before you start.
In short
- You get the Solo plan free for 7 days.
- A valid card is needed. PayFast verifies it at R0; Cmd.Ctrl charges no upfront trial fee.
- When the trial ends, your card is charged R99 automatically, and then R99 every month, until you cancel.
- Cancel before the trial ends and you will not be charged R99.
1. What the trial includes
The trial is the Solo plan: every feature of Cmd.Ctrl, 2 GB of storage and 2 team members, with unlimited clients. It runs for 7 days from the day you sign up. The exact end date is shown on the sign-up page before you verify your card, and in your workspace under Settings, Billing.
2. Who can have a trial
The trial is for new customers, once per person and company. An email address that has already had a trial, or that already owns a Cmd.Ctrl workspace, cannot start another. We may end a trial that was started to get around this, and we will tell you if we do.
3. Card verification, with no upfront trial fee
To start the trial you enter a valid credit or debit card on PayFast, our payment provider. We submit a zero-value verification to register the card for the subscription; Cmd.Ctrl charges no upfront trial fee. Some banks do not support zero-value authorisations and may show a small verification amount, which is returned. This is not a Cmd.Ctrl trial fee or your first monthly payment. We never see or store your card number: it is held by PayFast.
4. Automatic payment after the trial
By starting the trial you agree to a monthly card subscription with PayFast. Unless you cancel before the trial ends, on the day the trial ends your card is charged R99 for your first month of the Solo plan, and then R99 on the same day every month after that, until you cancel. You do not need to do anything to keep your workspace: it carries on as it is.
If you move to a bigger plan during the trial, nothing is charged at that moment. Your first payment at the end of the trial is the price of the plan you are on then.
5. Reminder
We email the workspace owner two days before the trial ends, with the date and amount of the first payment and how to cancel.
6. How to cancel
- In your workspace: Settings, then Billing, then Stop card payments.
- Or use the cancel link in any payment email from PayFast.
- Or reply to any email from us and we will cancel it for you.
If you cancel during the trial, you will not be charged R99. Your workspace stays available until the end of the trial, and is then paused. Nothing is deleted when it is paused: you can pay to bring it back, or ask us to delete it.
If you cancel after a paid month has started, no further payments are taken and your workspace runs until the end of the month you have paid for. Payments already made are not refunded for the unused part of a month, except where the law requires it.
7. If a payment does not go through
If the first payment after the trial, or a later monthly payment, does not go through, your workspace keeps working for 7 days while you sort it out, and we let you know by email. After that it is paused until it is paid. Nothing is deleted.
8. Price changes
We will tell you by email at least 30 days before a change to the price of your plan takes effect. You can cancel before then.
9. Everything else
How we handle personal information is set out in our privacy notice. These terms are governed by the law of South Africa. Cmd.Ctrl is provided by M3 Digital Group (Pty) Ltd, registration 2026/866268/07. Questions about the trial or your payments: reply to any email from us.
